Certificado de residencia fiscal (tax residency certificate)

The certificado de residencia fiscal is the official document from the AEAT (Spanish Tax Agency) confirming that you are a tax resident of Spain for a given year. You need it to apply double taxation treaties and to prove to another country, a bank, or a foreign payer where you actually pay your taxes.

You request it free of charge at the AEAT electronic office using a digital certificate or Cl@ve. There are two versions: a general certificate and one issued under a specific tax treaty, which is the version foreign tax authorities usually ask for.
