The CIF (código de identificación fiscal) formally disappeared in 2008, when it became the NIF (tax ID) of legal entities, but the term is still used every day. When someone asks for your company's CIF, they mean the company NIF: a letter indicating the entity type (B for an SL) followed by digits and a check character.
The change came with Royal Decree 1065/2007, which unified tax identification under the NIF for both individuals and companies. On forms, bank paperwork, and invoices you will see both names used interchangeably; the number is the same.
