For anyone invoicing in Spain who wasn't born here

Digital nomad with a visa

You arrived with the promise of a flat 24% and found out it doesn't apply to freelancers. Quarterly filings in January, April, July and October, all in Spanish. We explain it clearly and on time.

EU freelancer

You invoice European clients: modelo 349, VIES, reverse charge (inversión del sujeto pasivo). kontora handles it correctly from day one and explains the reasoning behind every box (casilla).

On the coast, self-employed

You pay a gestor who doesn't explain anything, and the fear of a fine never quite goes away. Here you see every figure, where it comes from and its deadline. No surprises in your mailbox.

Говорите по-русски?

Бухгалтерия и налоги Испании с интерфейсом и поддержкой на русском. Впервые. The same tool, in your language.

A lifelong local autónomo or SL? kontora is for you too: same rigor, same price, no language barrier.

How it works

1

Tell us your situation

Autónomo or SL, what you do, since when. Onboarding adapts to your profile and only asks for what's needed, explaining what each piece of information is for.

2

Invoice and record

Invoices valid in Spain, Verifactu-ready. Expenses and bank transactions (norma 43) reconciled. Underneath it all, real double-entry bookkeeping: here, the books can't go out of balance.

3

Every quarter, no surprises

A draft of your modelos, box (casilla) by box, every figure with its reasoning, how much to set aside each month, and a reminder before every deadline. We also watch the BOE daily for you.

And filing? For now, kontora doesn't file for you: it gives you the perfect draft and walks you through filing it yourself on the AEAT's site (sede electrónica), or a partner gestor files it for you. We'd rather tell you that straight.

Spain is changing the invoicing rules

Verifactu is the AEAT's new verifiable invoicing system. If you have an SL, your invoicing software must comply from 1 January 2027; if you're an autónomo, from 1 July 2027. Using non-compliant software carries a fixed fine of €50,000 per tax year. kontora was built Verifactu-ready from day one.

Source: RD 1007/2023 and RD-ley 15/2025 (BOE). The fine is set out in art. 201 bis of the Ley General Tributaria (General Tax Law). And something almost nobody tells you: there is no such thing as an "AEAT certificate" for software. What exists is the maker's responsible declaration (declaración responsable), and you will see ours published in plain sight, not hidden away.

Straight with you from day one

This is what exists today, and this is what doesn't yet. We'd rather you know before you give us your email.

Frequently asked questions

Does kontora file my taxes for me?
Not yet. kontora generates the exact draft of every modelo, box (casilla) by box, and guides you through filing it yourself on the AEAT website with your digital certificate (certificado digital) or Cl@ve. If you'd rather, a partner gestor can file it for you. Direct online filing is on the roadmap, and when it exists you'll hear it from us, not from the small print.
I don't speak Spanish. How do I deal with the AEAT?
Official documents (invoices, modelos, books) are always issued in Spanish, because that's what the AEAT requires. kontora explains every term and every casilla in your language, without translating the official name: when Hacienda writes to you about "modelo 303", you'll know exactly what it is.
I have a digital nomad visa. Don't I just pay a flat 24%?
That regime (the Beckham law) can apply if you're an employee working for a foreign employer. If you invoice as a self-employed freelancer, it doesn't apply to you: you're taxed as an autónomo under the normal progressive IRPF. It's the most expensive misunderstanding of the visa, and kontora calculates your real numbers from day one.
What is Verifactu, and does it affect me?
It's the AEAT's new standard for invoicing software: every invoice is recorded in a verifiable, tamper-proof way. Mandatory from 1 January 2027 for companies and from 1 July 2027 for autónomos. Invoicing with non-compliant software carries a fine of €50,000 per tax year. kontora has been built on this standard from the start.
How much does it cost?
The beta is free. The planned launch prices are already published, from €19 + IVA a month, with no lock-in and one fixed rule: you can export all your data and leave whenever you want, free of charge. And beta users keep their price for 24 months.
My tax residence is in the Basque Country, Navarre or the Canary Islands
For now we can't serve you: those regions have their own tax systems (TicketBAI, plus different regimes in the Canary Islands, Ceuta and Melilla) that we don't cover yet. We'd rather tell you now than sell you something that won't work for you.
I already use Holded, Quipu, Excel or a gestoría. Is switching a hassle?
The beta is designed exactly for people who already invoice. You can start clean or bring your data in via Excel/CSV, and during the beta we walk you through the migration. Before your first quarter with kontora, you'll see the draft and can compare it with what your gestor used to calculate.
Can I keep working with my gestor?
Yes, and kontora is designed to coexist with them: your books and data export in formats any firm understands. You get clarity and daily reminders; your gestor gets genuinely well-organized information.
Where is my data?
On servers within the European Union, under the GDPR. You'll be able to export everything in 1 click and, if you ever leave, your data leaves with you. Cancelling is free.
Is kontora a gestoría?
No. kontora is software: it records, calculates, explains and reminds you, with real accounting rigor. We don't give personalized tax advice. For cases that need professional judgment, we work with a network of trusted partner gestores.
